Job Description

Component Test - Inside Application Engineer
Put your experience in Electrical Engineering to work as an Inside Application Engineer in the dynamic and challenging environment of Keysight's Technical Contact Center located in beautiful Colorado. We are located in our new state of the art facility in the Colorado Springs area.

  • Application Engineers deliver technical instrument and measurement automation expertise for a solution implementation to our customers based on Keysight products and services.
  • They're focused on various phases of the sales process including requirements analysis, feature-by-feature demonstrations, benchmarks, competitive positioning, and implementation/execution, partnering with project and engineering services.
  • They understand customers' pre and post sales problems, recommend solutions to meet their needs, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • The engineer facilitates integrating Keysight products and services (at the system/solutions level) into the customer's environment and ensures the product functions per specifications.
  • They may be product or technology focused and may deliver customer training classes and consulting related to the application, as well as assist in pre-sales activities to help grow Keysight's business.
  • They work on system/application engineering assignments with clearly defined objectives and solve problems of limited scope and complexity.

Job Qualifications

  • Successful candidates will possess a formal engineering degree (BSEE, MSEE or PHD)
  • Typically, 2-5
    years of experience in Test or Application Engineering
  • Proven experience or academic knowledge in RF and microwave technologies with vector/performance network analyzers (VNA/PNA) in both hardware and software applications
  • Experience helping customers to test and validate their design solutions
  • RF & microwave background as related to component and system test of passive and active devices to include linear and non-linear performance of non-frequency translating and frequency translating devices
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of microwaves, microwave devices, systems and measurements as well as microwave test accessories
  • Hands-on with some or all of the following solutions:
    RF and microwave vector/performance network analyzers, ICR (Inductance Capacitance Resistance) and swept impedance analyzers, noise figure analyzers, phase noise measurements, spectrum analyzers and signal generators, RF power meters, materials testing and characterization a plus
  • Programming skills that must include one or more of the following languages:
    Python, .NET, LabView, Keysight VEE, C#, C++, VB, Excel, Automated Test Systems (ATE) etc.
  • Experience with FPGA Xilinx programming a plus
  • Utilization of basic bench top instruments such as:
    function generators, power supplies, voltmeters, etc.
  • Clear written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to explain sophisticated and complex subjects.
    • Must have excellent documentation practices.
    • Adherence to internal process
  • Creation and publication of internal and external customer facing knowledge base articles
  • Demonstrated pre-sales and post-sales customer service skill
