In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions +IOR for 0630 series. BASIC REQUIREMENT:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements for all grade levels:
Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in the fields of dietetics, food, nutrition, food service management, institution management, or related science. The educational program must have been accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. For dietitian positions, the curriculum must have been in accordance with the qualifying requirements established by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics(AND) (formerly American Dietetic Association (ADA) prior to January 1, 2012) in effect at the time of graduation. Completion of a coordinated undergraduate program, internship, or other clinical component approved by AND (formerly ADA) for dietitians or nutritionists. Professional registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). NOTE:
Employees currently assigned to positions in this occupational series as of September 2017 will be considered to have met the basic requirements for the position occupied. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED
Experience:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of the physiology and the function of the various systems of the human body, such as food digestion, nutrient absorption, transport and metabolism. Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE:

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE:
You must submit a copy of your transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in- grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of professional principles of nutrition necessary to develop, plan, implement, organize, coordinate, conduct, analyze, interpret, and evaluate a multi-faceted nutrition program for the cadet population. 2. Knowledge of an extensive range of medical nutrition therapy theories, principles, practices, evidence-based guidelines, and procedures necessary to provide effective nutritional counseling. Ability to relate this information to the cadet's conditions and charting medical records. 3. Knowledge of common diseases, prognosis, medication, treatment methods, and terminology of the medical field. 4. Ability to adapt normal and therapeutic diets to the groups and to the individual's cultural, religious, economic needs and preference. 5. Skill to prepare informational material and conduct training programs on nutritional value of food items. 6. Ability to analyze complex problems; comprehend, interrelate and evaluate facts; distinguish between cause and effect; understand problems and develop solutions in a systematic manner; and set appropriate goals for the program and help facilitate client goal-setting. 7. Ability to visualize needed changes and improvements in the nutrition program and demonstrate capability of originating new and different solutions to problems while ensuring appropriate treatment for specific age and developmental stage. 8. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to include both group and individual counseling, and interact with staff members and management within various organizations and clients at all levels. 9. Ability to continue keeping abreast of the advancing and changing nutritional disciplines/principles and be able to adapt these changes or develop new standards within the USAFA cadet nutritional program. 10. Knowledge of the U.S. Department of Public Health Food Code Standards and Hazard Analysis Critical Control methodology. PART-TIME OR UNPAID

Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK
Experience:
Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
