Deputy Director, Character and Leadership Development Directorate

This position is located in the Air Force Academy Center for Character and Leadership Development (CCLD). The Mission of the CCLD is to serve the United States Air Force Academy by advancing character and leadership development in preparation for service to the nation and to be the center of excellence for the advancement of character and leadership development. The primary purpose of this position is to advance the understanding, sharing, practice, and integration of professional development, enhancing mission accomplishment for USAFA. The incumbent serves as the Deputy Director of the Character and Leadership Development Directorate. Responsible for full scope, executive-level management of activities for the Directorate with the primary mission of advancing the understanding, scholarship, practice and integration of character and leadership development resulting in cadets and permanent party prepared for service to the nation. The Directorate is focused on studies, analysis, and assessment of command strategic priorities associated with USAFA cadets, permanent party, staff / faculty and coach character and leadership development. Service & Administration:
Serves as the alter ego for the Director of the Air Force Academy Character and Leadership Development Directorate at a Direct Reporting Unit, planning, organizing, and managing the activities of the directorate. Organizes and oversees the activities of the directorate. Formulates program goals, plans, policies, procedures and work plans concerning the development and operation of USAFA-wide character and leadership development efforts and analyses, assessment functions and activities. Participates in providing both technical and administrative direction to division chiefs. Provides division chiefs direction and advice regarding policies, procedures and guidelines. Plans work for accomplishment by subordinate divisions, sets and adjusts short-term priorities and prepares schedules based on consideration of requirements and assignments difficulty such that the experience, training and abilities of the staff are effectively utilized to meet organization and customer needs. Exercises supervisory personnel management
Responsibilities:
Directs, coordinates, and oversees work through subordinate supervisors. Advises staff regarding policies, procedures, and directives of higher level management or headquarters. With the director, selects or recommends candidates for subordinate positions, taking into consideration skills, qualifications, and mission requirements. Ensures reasonable equity among units of performance standards developed, modified, and/or interpreted and rating techniques developed by subordinate supervisors. Explains performance expectations to subordinate supervisors and employees directly supervised and provides regular feedback on strengths and weaknesses. Accepts, amends, or rejects work of subordinate supervisors. Appraises performance of subordinate supervisors and other employees directly supervised and serves as reviewing official on evaluation of non- supervisory employees rated by subordinate supervisors. Makes decisions on work problems presented by subordinate supervisors. Directs self-assessment activities of subordinate supervisors. Approves expenses comparable to within-grade increases, extensive overtime, and employee travel. Teaching:
Designs, delivers, and assesses character and leadership related courses and seminars. Develops, instructs, and/or facilitates USAFA staff and faculty professional development curriculum and activities. Oversees the design and implementation of workshops and on-line training for cadets and permanent party on leadership development and associated educational programs identifying best practices for Air Force-wide integration. Provides mentorship and training to permanent party and cadets as required. Oversees the USAFA Permanent Party Development Program with respect to the mission of USAFA to develop cadets into leaders of character. Research:
Researches, designs, promotes and implements methodologies in support of character and leadership development programs relevant to the changing nature of the Profession of Arms. Conducts thorough and timely research into system and trends in higher education to meet the anticipated needs of character and leadership development in the educational process. Generates and shares research, assessment and understanding of Best Practices to guide the Air Force Academy in its development of officers of character through identifying and pursuing character and leadership questions of importance. Reports on trends, problems and advances which impact the professional development of cadets, permanent party, and the educational mission. Maintains professional competence through conference attendance and presentations. Maintains continuing communications and support with other Centers/organizations performing similar duties across the nation and world. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
An earned Master's degree (must be completed by application deadline) in Social Science with a concentration/specialization in leadership or a closely related field is required. ACADEMIC DISCIPLINES:

Qualifications:
An earned Doctoral degree in a Social Science with a concentration/specialization in leadership or a closely related field is encouraged but not required depending on the breadth and depth of military or civilian expertise and experience the applicant may possess. Experience collaborating with faculty and senior leaders across an institution; evidence of the ability to lead teams and create a culture of collegiality. This is an administrative faculty position. Have a demonstrated record of successfully leading change in an organization; includes involvement in development of organizational vision and implementing policies and procedures to achieve vision within available resources in a continuously changing environment. Attending or instructing at advanced US military schools and/or relevant DOD experience is highly desired. Civilian academic experience at accredited universities, think tanks, or government positions including work at Professional Military Education institutions is desirable. Evidence of teaching effectiveness; record of academic service; record of scholarly accomplishments. Candidates will have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching. Candidates will be assessed based on education, evidence of teaching effectiveness, quality of scholarship, and demonstrated service to educational institutions and the discipline commensurate with years in the discipline. Candidates with a record of peer-reviewed research and publications as well as teaching experience are highly desirable. Essential qualities expected of every faculty member include the personal attributes of integrity, industry, cooperation, initiative, enthusiasm, and breadth of intellectual interests.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
