POSITION SUMMARYThe mission of the US Air Force Academy (USAFA) Office of Research (DFQR) is to support various research centers and programs across the Academy.
DFQR supports its mission through three established priorities:
1) growth and sustainment of the USAFA Research Enterprise, 2) development and implementation of formal Technology Transfer and Transition programs, and 3) strategic communications and marketing to support these activities.
Aleut is currently searching for an experienced contract Budget Analyst to augment support to DFQR Government personnel.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Support monitoring, tracking, and reviewing research obligations, expenditures, reimbursable orders, and requests for allotments Identifying and reporting differences between Commander's Resource Integration System (CRIS) reports and corresponding funding documents Identifying and recommending financial actions as needed to the Government approval authorities Provide budget support to USAFA Research Center and Institute resource advisors Provide recommendations on program funding efforts Process research funding documents to the appropriate Government financial office for action Monitor year-end closing and tri-annual reviews to recommend full utilization of allocated funds Provide support for the preparation and delivery of the annual National Science Foundation (NSF) Higher Education Research and Development (HERD) Survey Automated budget system utilization is anticipated to include:
Commander's Resource Integration System (CRIS) Defense Transaction Interface Module System (DTIMS) Financial Mangement (FM) Suite Defense Enterprise Accounting and Management System (DEAMS) Advana POSITION REQUIREMENTS Minimum of a BA/BS degree in finance or a related field Minimum of 3 years of experience Microsoft Office and Adobe application proficiency Experience working in support of Government finance activities Ability to make oral presentations on aspects of the research budget Preferred:
Experience with automated data processing software described above Experience with Government reimbursable funding processes Familiarity with military rank, protocol, and culture SKILLS/ABILITIES Critical Thinking - Evaluate and interpret data, facts, and information to create unique and creative solutions and proposals.
Interpersonal Skills - Able to communicate effectively with different people in varying fields and positions.
Teamwork - Work collaboratively not only with members of the Aleut Team but with outside clients, customers, and contractors.
Organizational Proficiency - Plan, prioritize, and achieve goals to maximize the impact of the role of senior contract specialist.
Flexibility/Adaptability - Able to cope and adjust with the inevitable disruptions to the best laid plans of mice and men.
